I haven't had a problem with saving/loading this game for 28 hours now. I'm pretty far in the game (River Styx) and when I went to save instead of the game saving as it normally does it gave me some prompt to insert a disk into the drive and locked up the game. I thought that was strange and shut down the game so I could relaunch it.

After that, however, every time I try to reload the game it simply says.DISK ERROR. and refuses to load.As an added bonus, someone suggested I verify the game files in Steam. Upon doing that it completely killed my map mod, various settings, and when I checked my list of PCs I had created in the menu before loading up your game they were all gone. So now I'm worried verifying might have just broken things further, and possibly just erased everything. (Despite there still being files in the BANE folder.)Am I completely screwed here or is there anything I can do?

Oct 30, 2012  Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge (Saturn) The character portraits are also taken from Wizardry VII to smoothen the transition from one game to the other, and they’re the same as on PC. The enemies, on the other hand, are entirely new sprites that are not based on any other version, while the dungeon walls are made of low-grade polygon graphics.

I was looking forward to playing the trilogy starting from 6 but if it's going to randomly trash my save file there's not really much point in trying. Verifying game files will reset the game to its original Steam image, so it is normal to lose your mods. I assume it is normal to lose you bank of starting characters as well: since the game does not prompt you for a save location, those must be saved somewhere in the BANE folder. If you used BANE as your save folder as well (which you shouldn't do, precisely for that reason), then you have probably lost your save too in the process, otherwise it shouldn't matter.1) In Windows, backup your save file and put the copy in another folder.

You never know what will happen.2) Check that saving/loading works. The Wizardry 6 save path and Dosbox mount must work together to point to a location that exists in your OS file system, or you will get a disk error. Check that this works by starting a new game and saving it (in another folder than your old save folder so that you don't overwrite your old save).3) Check whether you old save file is corrupted. Once you know that your paths are correct, copy your save file in there and try to load it. Your mods might have made the save file incompatible with the base game, so you might have to reconfigure them before trying that.

In general, anything under the SteamLibrary folder belongs to Steam and can be overwritten/deleted when Steam updates or refreshes games, so it is a bad idea to mix your own files in there. To save somewhere else:1) Launch with DosBox Daum2) Alt-Enter to escape full screen3) Go to the Drive menu of your Dosbox window and mount the folder you want to save, e.g. Mount PathToMySaveFolder as F: (the annoying thing is that you must do that every time you start the game)4) in the Wizardry 6 GAME CONFIGURATION, set your save folder to your new drive, e.g. If other files are working but your main save file is not, then that save file probably got corrupted somehow, which is a huge bummer. I routinely make copies of my save file so that if something like that happens, I don't lose too much. You could try to load up Mad God's tool and see if it can load the save game.a d - g o d. C o m /cosmicforge.htm (spaces to get around steam's weblink filter)You could also try your luck with the forums here:The guy who runs them is still active when people post there and offers to hex edit save games to help people out who run into bugs and stuff, though I don't know if he does that with Wizardry VI (I know he does it for VII). What I ended up doing was 'cheating' basically.:V Got the Cosmic Forge thing from Mad God's site and did some editing on a new party so I could quickly assemble and level up something akin to what I had before, then steamrolled my way through the beginning of the game.

I'm almost caught up to where I was before now. It's not ideal, but beats having to slowly grind my way through stuff I've already done at least. And yes, now I'm frequently backing up my saves.: I wish I knew what corrupted my file before. I don't think it's something that happens often at least. I have no qualms using Mad God's amazing tool as a time saving device. I spent an hour trying to get the 23 points or something I needed to make a female faerie ninja. After that I used the tool's feature to give higher bonuses more frequently. I spent 5-6 hours at the end of the game trying to grind a Zatoichi Bo to transfer into VII.

My characters were pushing level 60 and I was worried about running into the stat allocation bug (if all your stats are 100 and you can't spend your point you can't progress from the gain level screen). I said screw it and used Mad God's tool to increase the drop rate of the Zatoichi Bo's loot group.I'm a grown man with a busy life, so I do the best I can and when the RNG isn't smiling on me I don't feel bad about cutting the time-grind down a notch. So especially in your situation, I don't consider what you did 'cheating'.

They often lack the nuance we might find useful intrying to distinguish right from wrong. Even color televisions reduce thecomplexities good and evil to black and white. Conflict is portrayed much as itwas in old movies of the American West where good guys wore white hats and badguys wore black hats.We recognize that not everything called “good” is good; nor is everythingcalled “evil” not good.

There is a fundamental human tendency to define “good”as that which is in the interest of the self and to define “evil” as thatwhich stands in the way of self-interest. The consequences of such deceptioncompel urgent attention to the knowledge of good and evil.Good and evil are polar opposites of the best and worst of human behavior. Weshould strive to do good and avoid evil. How are we to know good and evil?Religions chart the course for civilizations, but science (psychology)elucidates the dynamic conflicts that confront each individual. Two ways ofknowing, two cultures. Can they be reconciled in a coherent view of moral life?Though science and religion are often seen as mutually incompatible, it is myconviction that a coherent fusion can be achieved.I propose that we tackle this question of the knowledge of good and evil bytaking a mythological journey, observing closely what we see.
