Dayz Standalone Single Player Mod
May 09, 2018 I updated the mod and the max stamina is now changed from 100 to 400, also the tier 3 decrease of hydration is changed from decreasing 0.85 times to decreasing 0.35 times per second. Now your character can run longer and you don't have to worry about water every 3 minutes. May 30, 2012 Once upon a time there was a single player mod file for DayZ written by a chap named Kronzky. It was pretty good and added a whole new dimension to playing DayZ. Sadly, for various reasons Kronzky and Rocket (the DayZ developer) fell out and they both decided that the file should be. Eventually at some point in the distant future someone will release a server for DayZ that you can run on your local machine and join and play single player, like we are able to do with the Arma 2 DayZ Mods currently. Its hard for someone to release server files, when no one has access to server files.
Isn't above all else the point of the game about player interactions? Seems goofy to me if they devote any serious resources to a single player thing. If it's just hosting your own server or something then whatever. What about all of those players that just want to get the best tier loot and shoot zombies? Like Hicks said, what if someone doesn't have a good internet connection, or wants to roleplay that they are the last survivor on earth.Plus being able to test your own mods will be nice.I'm sure the single player would be tied into having your own server, but without other clients needing to connect to your box (as in LAN).Also, if they release SP before the game is fully released, we'll be able to test the builds on our own private hive to see what is new without having to worry about people scouring the map for new items as well. The more people playing single player, the less there are to populate the world.
I don't think its a good idea to split the players anymore than public and private hives and 50 man servers do.I doubt creating a single player will significantly reduce the amount of players in regular servers. In fact, if someone wanted to start by playing the single player, then move onto more PvP based interaction once they had more of an understanding of the game, you could argue that a SP would bring more players to the game.
Edited June 17, 2015 by tux. If the game gets challenging enough (without player interaction) I don't see a problem with SP.Hope it can be played offline then. This would be the only reason why I would play SP; if I can't access internet at that time.Pretty much this. I use to play daisy mod when i would travel for work and didn't have the internet(it was a single player version of DayZ mod) the experience wasnt great but then the PvE side of DayZ mod was never great so i guess if they can make it hard to survive it might be interesting again for times with no net. Absolutely useless.
The whole atmosphere and all that comes from the human players. BI is a company, not a group of friendly modders doing stuff in their spare time. They're doing this to market their product to a wider public and as far as I can understand that's quite a sound business strategy. So, DayZ with a single player option it's quite far from being useless. It's amazing the number of people on this board that take their personal preferences about features so seriously to think those represent the only way to create this game. So naive.Business shouldn't trump their mission of creating a good game first and foremost, the game they started.
Devoting resources to something so divergent from the original goal of the title is heading down that path. So is trying to port their game to consoles at this point. How bout they focus on getting the game they started on finished, then they can branch off and do what they want with the franchise.
They aren't hurting for cash, and honestly bohemia seems to do best when they develop niche titles and don't try to appeal to the most amount of people. What's amazing to me is the amount of people who put business above all else. Money isn't everything. And if you don't think game development (or any creative process) suffers when the goal shifts towards money rather than the original vision then you are the one who is naive. Edited June 17, 2015 by Bororm. Which is exactly what I said in the announcement.I'll try and grab some time during E3 to hop on the forums and answer Q'sSorry must've missed the part about singleplayer being targeted for the beta phase.Well, seeing how the last 18 months of development went, I'm very eager to see if you can push out all planed features in the next 6 months. I do hope so, but if not, I'll wait;). Because there is no other survival game out there that can reach the status DayZ has (or hopefully will have soon).Does that feature complete include real base building?
Do you by any chance have any info on how that is going to work? Will it be more like in Origins (some fixed buildings you can build) or more like in Epoch (where you could build pretty much anything). Or is it even some sort of underground structures you can build like Dean 'dreamed' of during the beginning of the SA? Kind of like the idea.
Dayz Mod Vs Standalone
It will be a good starting place for new players to learn the mechanics in a safer environment. They can learn about the crafting, foraging, looting and the such like, how to sneak past or deal with zombies (when there are more and they are more of a threat) and things like that. Having bought Standalone on day one without ever playing the mod, the game was quite a lot to take in initially and I would have welcomed an opportunity to spend a few hours running around the map in relative safety, learning about the gameplay and various areas. This can only be a good thing in my opinion and I welcome it. People can get a good idea of the various systems in the game, then when they feel ready they can start playing on the proper servers. Think of it as one massively open training level.Edit: And yes, I know the main danger tends to be other players, which of course you won't be able to experience in single player, however, learning how to spot and deal with other players will be a lot easier to start to do when you aren't still trying to figure out the rest of the mechanics of the game.
Edited June 17, 2015 by GaleKast. Offline mode sounds really boring.I can see how single player could be useful to modders and people without internet access. I've always felt that one of the best parts of learning the game was learning it the hard way through player interaction.
How effective will 'dayz with training wheels' be at preparing a player for the multiplayer setting? I'm guessing not very effective. No, you are correct it will not teach them how to interact and how to deal with players. It will allow them to learn the rest of the mechanics though. To be honest, a lot of new players would benefit from this as a way to learn the crafting systems, how to survive and forage, cooking etc.
Then when they have learnt a little more and understand the systems, they can move to the MP servers and learn how to deal with players. Being able to learn the basics solo and then learning more in MP is surely a good thing for most people. Yeah most players who play already won't bother with it but for new players, this will be a valuable tool in developing their skills.
Not sure if this has already come up - apologies if it has!How about a single player backstory campaign? Maybe even co-op?You'd start in some little town as a copper (/cop) when the outbreak begins. Maybe there's some npc scenes, and those npc'c are Zeds in the mpThen there's an army scorched earth mission; an airforce bombing run; the the Yanks get called in; finally the battle for NWAF (with helo's crashing in the distance, or on the airfield when Zed stows away). Lastly, you hop on a chopper and fly out. Just as you cross the shore you watch a chinook, or whatever, go down with engine trouble into the sea.Someone says, 'they'll have to swim for it.' Someone else: 'back there?
I'd rather die'Or something like that. Maybe your soldier char just makes it on to a civvie chopper which goes down (full of the different survivor skins). It's just a thought anyway - maybe more little scenes than a full blown campaign. And it's optional obviously. But it might add some depth to the multiplayer - some NPC characters could turn up as Zeds, or unique pieces of equipment could be found.
Or maybe the helo that crashes gives you a choice of character to spawn. That's my thoughts anyway. Had a zombie dream last night:)Spas. It's a good suggestion.I think sooner or later there will have to be a single player element to the game, I would just love to play DayZ in single player. I can understand why Rocket doesn't want a single player after the betrayal, but I think it would be good for the community and those who don't play online multiplayer games.
There is a whole new market out there for those who just want to play Day without the hassle and issues of online issues! I'll be honest I only went online gaming for DayZ, nothing else.I am hoping when the SA comes out the community will offer the Mod in a single player campaign. All attention will be on the SA, so no loss there if the Mod isn't being worked on! Naturally with Rockets permission. If they are continuing with the mod, I would still like a single player DayZ! Hello thereFirstly 'betrayal' is a bit harsh IMHO, perhaps misunderstanding?:)Secondly, I too am an avid SP player, and although a bit lonely, I still give DayzSP a bash every now and then. Sometimes I just don't want to deal with the twattery of the internet and like to play alone. But, although I don't expect a decent campaign (from the RV engine), I would like some dynamic aspects and AI controlled survivors (even if they just possess std OPFOR AI).One could label it as a training sim for real online play. One reason why I'll never play WARZ for example is that it's online only, that just doesn't float my particular boat.User choice is key IMHO.rgdsLoK.
Dayz Standalone Single Player Mode
Hello thereI use a very, very old version (essentially the original). But, if you do a quick google you can quickly find various versions, I cannot vouch for them though. (don't want you to loose your cd key!).Be aware though that some recent ones shown on Youtube with the 'Flashpoint' mission are a little misleading and show armed Zeds, which arn't really Zeds, rather Zed skinned Civvies, so they won't act in a zombie way. Also, afaik troops still wont engage or interact with Zeds.Hope this helps!rgdsLoKPS. Someone liking my posts? I would sooner not, part of the reason i got into DayZ was what would I do?
Dayz Standalone Single Player Mod Gethub
I can't justify renting a server for one player, beats the point of being poor.I just like the idea of lone survivor, and what would I do. The game as it is is fine online, but the option would be great. Its why I loved Fallout 3, Lone wanderer walking the wasteland. Do what you want when you want. But with Fallout you still have NPCs in exchange for human players which is almost the same just calculable. You can basically do everything you want within the limits of DayZ. Just wait for the standalone then you maybe can set up a private server provided they add the tools, play on it and get bored.
Hello thereI know many of you like multiplayer play, and whilst not exciting for you, SP play may well be exciting for many, many others.I play far more SP than MP in all of my games, the main interaction I have with the nameless hordes is through one or two forums. (I don't do facebook for example).Yes, the game as it stands isn't super exciting for SP but I like it, and as I'll never to be able to afford a server it would be nice to have the option to play SP.If the standalone doesn't support it I'll stick to the mod version and will have to play that branch. But we all must remember that each person plays the game in their own way, and there's nothing wrong with that.RgdsLoK. Back when I played wow I had several toons - a main, an alt and a anti social one. The point being, if I just wanted twenty minutes of peace and quiet gaming, I could use the anonymous one that my mates didn't know aboutI love MP; I love getting KoS'd by people with more time to invest than me; I love killing bandits; I love the tense moment when you run across the NWAF in broad daylight; I love firing flares in Cherno at nighttime. BUT I also sometimes just want to experience a story, or shoot Zeds or in general play without pressure. If there was a SP aspect to dayz, it wouldn't feel empty. It'd maybe be like a training area for noobs before that hit the beach of the standalone.Remember - games nowadays live or die by the community. There are so many people who'll buy the likes of BF3 they'd already planned four DLCs at launch.
If we treat newbies like s. the community won't grow and neither will dayz.Just some thoughts.
