Unearthed Arcana aims to be a catalogue of homebrew rules for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons ( D&D 5e), including weapons, monsters, races, subclasses & classes, adventures, etc.We want this to be the place where a DM can go just before playing and find something that will be useful.Be Constructive and Civil.Be respectful of other users. Be constructive in how you give and take feedback. This can only lead to a better community, and ultimately, better brews. Don’t give rude, belittling feedback, and don't use harmful words.

Imagery alone is not content outside of a resource (one of our flair types). For help with not-yet-complete content, use The Arcana Forge post at the top of the subreddit or the official Discord. Certain content can be posted with only the earlier stages completed as long as it's usable (i.e., at least levels 1-5 for classes, levels 1-13 for subclasses).Flair Submissions, Use Clear and Searchable Titles. As a catalogue of homebrew, we need to easily browse and search posts. This is my attempt to make balanced PC Dragon using rules for Race, Class, and Background.Dragon V3.12:Dragon V3.12 (PDF version):At first level you will be physically weak but have a powerful breath weapon. You now get fewer of them but many were consolidated.

Minor tweaks to Lair options and Maturity added as a core class component instead of Kindled power. Also fixed a few capitalization and grammatical mistakes.Changelog: v3.5 (9/6/17) Slightly nerfed how often you can use your breath at low level (out of combat rest gained at lv 1 and bonus action added to Draconic Might-min lv 11) and the breath kindled powers changed slightly to accommodate that change. We'll add very complex organic surfaces using ZBrush and converting it into a Rhino file. By the end of this Rhino training, you'll be able to model a high resolution jewelry design and prepare a rendering using KeyShot.

I love the class but the problem is the social aspect. Dragons are very obvious.

Its almost like being a werewolf in a world that hates them. Playing the class is honestly insanly fun, unless there are people around. Having to hold back on all your power because the villagers dont know youre not trying to kill them too. This would be fine if the human form could do SOMETHING. No proficiencies at all means either I do nothing or go dragon and ruin any social aspects the game may include. I'll start off by saying thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you find playing the class fun. There is a reason that I suggest players and DM's talk about how dragons exist in their world. In the setting for most 5e adventures good dragons (metallic) should be as well accepted as a half orc or half dragon.

Chromatic dragons are more along the lines of the Volo's guide monster PC's. Also swapping between dragon and human is an action in and bonus action out so if monsters are attacking you could swap back to your less threatening human form after combat (suffering only similar repercussions to a sorcerer using True Polymorph or Shapechange). You should have lots of social options as well (including talking them down in dragon form when the fight is over). These however are just suggestions and again will depend heavily on setting and DM.I will also note that at low level when you have fewer options, you are a small or medium creature and a hatchling that should at least be slightly less threatening than a full grow dragon. If you take the spell casting option you can gain access to shape change and other useful spells at level 5 giving you more options. You may also take feats or multiclass to gain weapon proficiencies for your human form. Remember your abilities are only limited by your new form, so most abilities still work especially if you choose something like a half dragon so you could use your dragons breath weapon. If you don't think that those are enough options I would be happy to hear your opinions on what might also work. Glad youre so interested in player feedback it means alot. The problem as my Dm and I saw it was commoners and most people realisticly wouldnt care what color the dragon is at first glance, and as such would fear/attack it.

Its debateable but I think Id agree that most people would fear dragons regardless of size or color. Multiclassing is always an option and casting would work as well, however a kindled powers allowing for say medium armor and simple weapon proficiency in human form would go a long way to making your human form safer. You wont be anything special in it but you wont have an ac of 10 and no way to protect yourself against say an ambush. This is all assuming you cant be in dragon form 24/7 which I much prefer. However that has not been an option enough times that if It was available I would take the kindled powers for such proficiencies. So the simple answer is pick Dragonborn as your alternate form and Draconic knight training at lv five.

Then you have full armor proficiency and dragon breath for offense. You can also pick up the weapon master feat at level four if you like, giving you a single stat point and prof with four weapons.RAW Draconic Knight Training gives you barding proficiency but I would count as giving you armor proficiencies when in human form.In one of the games I'm playing in I'm playing as a white dragon. When I get near civilization I turn into my human form and if I am seen when I am in my dragon form I just use an action and a spell slot to change form and play it off like I'm a wizard that changed into a dragon as apposed to the converse since an action is only six seconds.

But yes I am significantly more vulnerable in human form.I could change Draconic Knight Training to give weapon proficiencies as well? That feels odd and a bit clumsy to me. Removing the disadvantage with tools and proficiency with simple weapons in humanoid form makes sense though. I may do that.Really another simple way is at level 5 just taking origin of sorcery. Then you can cast mage armor and combat spells when you're in human form. I don't know if that goes at all towards what you're having problems with however. To me it's one of those problems that make DnD what it is.

Finding solutions to problems in unique ways and all I can hope for is that I've given you enough tools to do that with Dragons.I have no idea if I've been helpful at all?. I never thought to convince someone that I'm a wizard, that's really clever. The main concern I've had is in say a tavern, and the party gets attacked by thugs, bandits, etc. And there's very little I can do because changing into a large dragon would cause mass panic. As I level it's becoming less of a problem as my options expend. It's just a weakness in the early level when modifiers are low. Also, since you're locked into a form after you choose, I'm stuck as a human.

D D 5e Dragon Race

I love the class and there are options as you go on to wiggle around people fearing you. I was just frustrated while in human form level 1-5 and feeling like there was nothing I could do.

Zack MacLeod Pinsent, the 25-year-old British gentleman who dandies it up every single day of the year! When I put on a mostly clean pair of pants (and yes, sweatpants count as pants), and put on a shirt that requires actual buttons to fasten up, I expect people I come across to curtsy in front of me while saying, “ Good day, me lord.” Like, I’m that fucking fancy. But my kind fancy is absolutely homely raggedy trash (“ You think?” – anyone with eyes) compared to the Jane Austen-ness that Zack MacLeod Pinsent decorates the streets with all day, every day.
